VIC: Sri Lankan trade exhibition sparks bitter protest

MELBOURNE, Feb 6 AAP - The long running civil war between the Sri Lankan government and
Tamil separatists spilled onto the streets of Melbourne today.

Police used one of Melbourne's busiest roads as a demarcation line between opposing Sri
Lankan groups as they demonstrated outside a trade exhibition staged by the Sri Lankan
government.

Tamil supporters claim the Sri Lankan government is using investment from countries like
Australia to mount a genocidal war against the guerrilla group, the Tamil Tigers and Tamil
civilians.
