BEIJING, Jul 19, 2006 (SinoCast via COMTEX) -- Tsinghua University's DMB-T has been approved to be China's digital TV ground broadcasting standard, which will be officially announced at the end of July.

China is to broadcast digital TV programs across the whole country by 2015, and confirmation of the standard will help to achieve the goal, in accordance with a long-term plan by the State Administration of Radio Film and Television.

Apart from chip manufacturing, the TV and set-top box market will be roughly valued at multi-hundred billion. Additionally, the standard will be a great push for integration of radio and TV network, communications network and Internet.

Disclosure of the information promptly made a strong impact on the capital market. China Shanghai Oriental Pearl ( Group ) Co., a leading listed company of the sector, saw its shares went up to the intraday ceiling.

Investment institutions forecast that tech stocks led by those with digital TV background will start to rise again.
