Vic: Police hunt man after double stabbing

MELBOURNE, April 4 AAP - A woman has been stabbed six times while her partner, who
tried to defend her, was stabbed twice in the chest at a house in Melbourne's north.

It's believed three people were at the McRae Street home, Reservoir, when an altercation
occurred about 4.50am (AEST) on Sunday, police said.

As a result of the dispute, a woman was stabbed six times in the arms and legs and
when her partner attempted to intervene, he was stabbed twice to the chest.

The offender, who is believed to be known to the couple, fled on foot, police said.

The pair, aged in their mid 20s, were taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital.

The man is in a critical condition while the woman's injuries are believed to be non-life
threatening.

Police are searching for the male offender.
