Council cracks down on landlords, car radios

Landlords who allow their buildings to become havens forcriminal activity would face prosecution under a crackdown approvedby the City Council on Wednesday.

The last council meeting before a six-week summer recessfocused on nuisance issues that chip away at the quality of life inChicago neighborhoods. Under ordinances approved Wednesday: Motorists who disturb their neighbors with blaring car radios wouldhave their vehicles impounded at a minimum cost of $615.
